One hundred years after its first publication, a defining Estonian novel is reimagined through the eyes of contemporary artists.

Yesterday at the annual meeting of the Estonian Painters’ Association at ARS Kunstilinnak, a question long present yet rarely articulated with clarity was brought into the center: what is the true status of the artist in Estonia today — and what must be done to secure it?
